Lei Jun's company Xiaomi has announced an event on August 13 to launch its next MIUI, codenamed MIUI 7. The Xiaomi MIUI 7 event takes place at the National Convention Center, Beijing on August 13th, Thursday.
This MIUI 7 is expected to be based on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and bring several new features, including more flat smooth and colorful user interface to make user experience better. Moreover, MIUI 7 is expected to be pre-installed on the next-generation Xiaomi flagship phone, the Xiaomi Mi 5.
Moreover, the company wants its next flagship model to be powered by the Snapdragon 820 SoC, which is the reason we might not see the device till March.
As of now, the latest smartphones are running on MIUI 6 ROM based on Android 5.0.2 (Lollipop), which was launched one year back.
This UI currently runs on the Mi 4, Mi 4i, Mi Note, and the Note Pro among others. The Redmi Note 4G and the Redmi 1S too recently got the MIUI 6 update.
On the other hand, Chinese handset maker might release its Redmi Note 2. Moreover, the Redmi Note 2 was certified in TEENA agency revealing the specs including 5.5-inch 1080 x 1920 resolution (FHD) screen, 2GHz Octa-Core CPU, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, 13MP/5MP camera, 3020mAh battery, Android 5.0 is pre-installed with Xiaomi's own MIUI skin running on top.
