While the first public gameplay footage of Star Wars Battlefront, being developed by DICE and published by Electronic Arts, is due to be revealed at 10.30am PT Friday (11pm IST), the game's release date has been tipped on its website along with the first official screenshot.
The dedicated website for the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront game shows a Stormtrooper riding an Imperial Speeder through the forests of the moon Endor - one of the two playable environments that have been confirmed for the game, the other being the ice-covered planet Hoth.
While the screenshot (seen above) does not reveal much, the site's source code (via VideoGamer) briefly let the cat out of the bag about the release date - revealing Star Wars Battlefront will available for PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 17 this year. The source code has since been cleaned to remove mention of the release date.
To recall, EA in May 2013 obtained exclusive rights to develop Star Wars games for game consoles. EA development studio DICE announced at E3 2013 it would be making Star Wars Battlefront, and also provided a teaser trailer. Other EA studios, BioWare and Visceral Games, are also making Star Wars games, though so far even tentative release dates have not been mentioned.
The first public gameplay footage of Star Wars Battlefront will be shown off at the Star Wars Celebration event on Friday in Anaheim, California.
Lucasfilm on Thursday released the second teaser of the much-anticipated Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens movie, which is set to release this Christmas.
