This seems a bit surprising but this is how things turn around in the world of social networking. Instagram has now surpassed the micro-blogging giant Twitter and its own parent company Facebook, when it comes to interactions in posts. Gadgets quoted a research conducted by Quintly
which studied some 5,000 Instagram profiles and later found that the average Instagram post received 4.8 interactions (likes, comments, shares) while for a popular social platform Facebook the average is 0.72 and 0.25 for Twitter (favourites, retweets, replies).
It has been also found that Instagram users updated posts less frequently as compared to the Facebook users in the first quarter of 2015.
However, Instagram is also a video sharing platform and videos play an important role for Instagram users, but still some 94 per cent posts on Instagram were photo shares.
It may be mentioned that Facebook recently updated its "News Feed" feature while Twitter came up with a "Highlights" feature aimed to invite more user attention to remain active on the site.
Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service that enables its users to take pictures and videos, and share them on a variety of social networking platforms. It was was created by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger, and launched in October 2010.
